Greetings faithful reader(s).  The spring movie season is fast approaching.  Here are some of the movies we’re excited about seeing in the comming months. (Click on the movie title to see the trailer.)

Hall Pass (2/25) – Christina Applegate and Jenna Fischer star in this comedy where they give their husbands (Jason Sudeikis & Owen Wilson) a week off to do whatever they want in order to revitalize their marriages. Based on the premise and the cast this looks like it might be a funny one.  Where can we get one of these hall passes?

Paul (3/18) – Simon Pegg and Nick Frost visit Area 51 and end up with an alien hitchhiker. The guys from Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead and Spaced (a TV show from BBC, watch it!) are great whenever they are together. Not too keen on Seth Rogan as the voice of the alien, but if that is the worst part we can live with it.

Sucker Punch (3/25) – Two words for this one: Zack Synder. The man is a great filmmaker and his visual style is nothing short of amazing.  This one is about an institutionalized girl whose fantasy dreams are her only escape from reality.  We saw a trailer where WWII fighter planes are shooting at dragons, enough said.  This looks to be shot the same way that 300 and Watchman were, so that’s a good sign.

Arthur  (4/8) – The remake of the classic Dudley Moore comedy, but with Russell Brand in the lead this time. Not sure how this will end up, but Brand is a guilty pleasure of ours.  Can he play an obnoxious drunk?  Probably not a huge stretch for him.

Your Highness (4/8) – This knight’s tale follows the brave James Franco, and his not-so-brave and also not-so-smart brother Danny McBride as they go to save Franco’s lady friend from an evil wizard.  Let the quest begin.

Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil (4/29) – Like fairy tales? Like CSI? If you answered yes to either of these questions then you would like the 1st Hoodwinked, and I personally am looking forward to the sequel.

Thor (5/6) – The Norse thunder god is cast down from Asguard to Earth by his father for being an a-hole.  Thor is kind of a strange pick to carry his own movie, as the comic isn’t uber popular; but if he is going to be in the Avengers movie we sort of need this one.

Bridesmaids (5/13) – It looks like a Hangover rip-off, but with an all female cast.  So what?  Judd Apatow is directing and his movies are funny as shit for the most part.  Kristen Wiig and Mya Roudolph are in it, and they are hysterical; Ellie Kempler is in it too, and she is the cutest thing ever.

The Hangover 2 (5/26) – You saw the first one right? Of course you did.  You laughed at Carlos jerkin’ it didn’t you?  You’ll go and see this and it will be awesome.

Let us know what you think about these, and let us know what movie you’re interested is seeing before the Memorial Day summer movie onslaught. Thanks – Alex & Tim (The Men on Film)
